Tell HHS: Say NO to the anti-choice lobby

In a breakthrough advancement for women’s health, the Obama administration recently acted to put affordable, effective contraception within the reach of millions of women. But now, anti-choice, anti-family planning forces are waging an all-out campaign to prevent women from getting affordable access to these fundamental health services. We can’t let them succeed. That’s why I’m hoping you will immediately contact the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and urge it to stand by its decision — contraception is basic health care and must be treated as such by health insurance plans. Act now. The new HHS policy creates a special exception for certain religious employers, allowing them to deny coverage for contraceptive services. Religious and anti-family planning groups are mounting a campaign to make the exception even broader and undermine this huge step forward. Their strategy is clear: The more exceptions they can force into the rules, the more women they can prevent from accessing contraception.
